iSites overhauled, now lets you publish cloud-based HTML5 iPhone apps in minutes

iphone smaller iSites overhauled, now lets you publish cloud based HTML5 iPhone apps in minutesiSites — a zero-code cloud-based ‘app creator’ — can now generate HTML5 apps that work on iOS devices. With this new feature, dubbed ‘InstantApp’, you can now design a single app in your browser and publish it natively on Android and iOS, and as an HTML5 iPhone app.

We haven’t looked at iSites before, but it shot to fame last year when it launched with native iOS and Android support. Self-publishing Android apps wasn’t a problem because Google does very little moderation of the Market, but iSites ran into trouble with its iOS apps. Thousands of people signed up for the service after it was featured on Mashable and TechCrunch, and you can imagine Apple’s chagrin as thousands of cookie cutter apps flooded its approval queue.

Genwi, the developer behind iSites, realized something had to be done — it had to circumvent the App Store approval process. Genwi, of course, turned to HTML5 Web apps — which can be pinned to the iPhone home screen and which can be shoehorned into almost behaving like native apps.

Read on for our experiences with iSites’ new InstantApp HTML5 iOS app creator.

Add a Windows 8 user tile to your Windows 7 taskbar

windows 8 taskbar tile Add a Windows 8 user tile to your Windows 7 taskbar

Now that Windows 8 images have begun leaking out, it’s only a matter of time until developers start releasing mods for Windows 7 which mimic upcoming features. Over at Into Windows, they’ve spotted one such mod already.

In the earliest Windows 8 images, we saw Windows Live integration on the taskbar. In the far right corner, there’s a user tile displayed. If you’d like to do the same on Windows 7, download Taskbar User Tile from DeviantArt user AngelWZR.

Once installed, your current picture will appear on the taskbar. Click it, and a menu appears which allows you to log off, switch users, and access the control panel. Right now, the mod only works if your taskbar is displayed on the bottom of your Windows desktop.

Beyonce, Britney Spears And More: 25 Best Songs Of 2011

We count down the year’s most memorable musical moments, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

281x211 Beyonce, Britney Spears And More: 25 Best Songs Of 2011

Photo: Jive

<P><P>In 2011, we shuffled and shook it out. We found love and decided to dance until the world ends. We rolled in the deep and celebrated the boys with the booming systems. Shoot, at one point, we even went to <a href="/news/articles/1673975/will-ferrell-jay-z-kanye-west-watch-the-throne.jhtml">Paris with Will Ferrell</a>. It was, to say the very least, an <i>interesting</i> 12 months. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="id:1675898" width="240" height="211"></div><p> So, how else to sum up the year than with my picks for the 25 <a href="http://www.mtv.com/specials/best_of">Best Songs of 2011</a>: odes to partying and pumped-up kicks, songs of sadness and beauty, tunes about getting loaded and getting revenge. Pop, hip-hop, rock, bed-tronica, they're all here, and they're all important in some way, mostly because they all helped guide us through a rather tumultuous time. But that's enough from me, let's get to the songs. Oh, and I'd like to hear your picks too &#8212; drop me a line in the comments below. So now, on with the countdown. <b>25. Nicola Roberts, "Beat of My Drum"</b>: Supremely saccharine single from erstwhile Girls Aloud member mashes together every notable pop moment in recent history, yet somehow manages to be better that the sum of its parts. That's thanks mostly to the supercharged, sing-a-long chorus, where the whole thing comes together in a head-spinning rush. She should go solo more often. <b>24. Against Me!, "Russian Spies"</b>: Searing, surging punk from Gainesville lifers proves their time on Sire Records didn't soften them one bit. It only made them more resolute. And, strangely, sadder too. <b>23. Kreayshawn, "Gucci Gucci"</b>: Either the smartest song of 2011 or the dumbest, the beauty of "Gucci Gucci" &#8212; and Kreayshawn, for that matter &#8212; is that the answer is probably both. The goofy, horror-movie synth squiggle, the dollops of low-end whomp, the part where Kreay claims to have swag coming out her ovaries … it's all good. Even if it's not. <b>22. Gospel Music, "This Town Doesn't Have Enough Bars for Both Of Us"</b>: Peppy, poppy, pocket-rock that laments the lack of quality drinking establishments in Owen Holmes' hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, and dares to ponder one of life's great post-breakup quandaries: When does <i>our</i> place become just <i>my</i> place? He's not smart enough to know the answer; instead, he spends his genius on barroom <i>bon mots</i> like, "I'm not drinking anymore/ But I'm not drinking any less." Works for me. <b>21. Demi Lovato, "Skyscraper"</b>: For about a week, this was the biggest song in the world (or the Internet), a fact that had nothing to do with irony, our nascent sense of superiority or kittens, and everything to do with the startling connection Lovato makes with the track itself. Oh, and the fact that she sings the absolute <i>beejezus</i> out of it. Given everything that's <a href="/news/articles/1651297/demi-lovato-enters-treatment-center-leaves-tour.jhtml">happened in Lovato's life</a>, that connection makes sense, but it's the maturity she shows on the song &#8212; and that final, chill-inducing chorus &#8212; that opened eyes, and served notice. Welcome to the club, Demi. <b>20. Lykke Li, "Get Some"</b>: Overlooked, otherworldly single off Li's equally overlooked (and otherworldly) <i>Wounded Rhymes</i> album, this one is very much about sex. Thumping, bumping, panting … and then Li pushes it all over the top with her smoldering, sumptuous vocals. The kind of song that requires a cigarette and a cold shower after repeat listens. <b>19. The Black Keys, "Lonely Boy"</b>: After spending portions of their breakout <i>Brothers</i> album getting slightly contemplative, the Keys roar back with "Lonely Boy," a song that only contemplates how best to make a guitar rev like a V-8 engine. A hard-charging, and even harder-chugging treat (with an equally <a href="/news/articles/1673294/black-keys-lonely-boy-derrick-tuggle.jhtml">hard-partying music video</a>), it's the kind of classic claptrap you always knew they were capable of making. <b>18. Chris Brown, "Beautiful People"</b>: Folks can talk about <a href="/news/articles/1675822/best-mtv-live-performances-2011.jhtml">Brown's hip-hop turn on "Look at Me Now,"</a> but this single represents his biggest reinvention to date. A slippery, shiny club track helmed by Benny Benassi, like most of Breezy's work it is undeniably sexy, but it's also subtly smart too. And that's where he made his biggest strides. Also, unlike "Look at Me Now," he doesn't even mention Mr. Miyagi once. <b>17. YACHT, "Dystopia (The Earth Is on Fire)"</b>: Every day the sky gets lower (lowerlowerlower!) And every day the flames get higher (higherhigherhigher!) So, with apologies to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Roof_Is_on_Fire target="_blank">Rock Master Scott and the Dynamic Three</a>, this disco duo just decide to let the motherf—er burn. <b>16. Washed Out, "Eyes be Closed"</b>: Massively ebbing and echoing bed-tronica (or, you know, "chillwave") from some dude in Perry, Georgia. Bonus: Sounds nothing like Perry, Georgia. <b>15. Lil Wayne, "6 Foot 7 Foot"</b>: <a href="/news/articles/1662974/lil-wayne-6-foot-7-foot-bangladesh.jhtml">Weezy and producer Bangladesh may still</a> hate each other (or maybe they've made up, I can't remember), but there's no denying that both men are better off together. "6 Foot" starts with Harry Belafonte's "The Banana Boat Song," then twists it into something else entirely. Knotty and slightly seizure-inducing, it's like "A Milli" times, well, a million. <b>14. Nicki Minaj, "Super Bass"</b>: The unlikely champion of the Summer Jam Sweepstakes, it started life almost as an afterthought (a bonus track on the <i>Pink Friday</i> deluxe edition) and ended up being Nicki's breakthrough hit. Sometimes things just work out that way. Here's to the guys with the booming systems. <b>13. <a href="/news/articles/1675846/lmfaos-party-rock-anthem-a-big-thing-in-2011.jhtml">LMFAO, "Party Rock Anthem"</a></b>: It's either the stoopidest song in recent memory, or perhaps LMFAO's magnum opus (or maybe both), but why ponder points like that when the end result is this good. From its ebola-catchy hook to party-hearty machinations, this one is just begging to be blasted … and shuffled to. <b>12. Foster The People, "Pumped Up Kicks"</b>: The year's catchiest rock tune was actually <i>last year</i>'s catchiest too &#8212; it just took folks a while to realize it. Hazy, loping and scratchy like a mohair sweater, it recalls a headier era when bands wrote ultra-hooky singles about ultra-dark things (Eels' "Novocaine for the Soul," the Smashing Pumpkins' "Today," etc.) and earned repeated spins on radio as a result. Also known as the 1990s. <b>11. Rihanna, "We Found Love"</b>: A few weeks ago, someone told me that <i>this</i> would ultimately end up being Rihanna's signature hit and, at the time, I sort of laughed him off. I mean, did he remember "Umbrella"? But, the more I think about it, he may be right. Or at least on the right track. From the icy synth strains to <a href="/news/articles/1675353/rihanna-talk-that-talk.jhtml">Calvin Harris' hard-charging</a> pre-chorus, it most certainly is the song that <i>best</i> represents pop, circa 2011, and given RiRi's standing in the field, perhaps in time, it will become her set-closing number too. For now, at least, I'm content to bask in "Love's" masterful mix of the carnal and, well, the club. <b>10. Britney Spears, "Till the World Ends"</b>: I have been accused (many times) of being a Brit basher and, sure, that's probably true, but not even <i>I</i> could deny this song. Super-charged star-burst synthesizers, robo-vocals and, of course, that iconic "Woah-Oh-Oh" chantalong, it's <i>the</i> party jam for the post-apocalyptic future. And because of all that, it's also an important song; not only a reminder that Britney is still capable of making truly terrific pop music, but that, really, she never stopped. And coming from one of her most ardent critics, that's high praise indeed. <b>09. Beyonc&#233;, "Love on Top"</b>: You wanted a throwback jam, you've got a throwback jam. Big, bold, brassy and blissed-out, it represents everything B was going for on her <i>4</i> album, recalling roiling old R&B classics and the supreme diva-tude of the all-time greats. Sure, I could've gone for something like "Run the World (Girls)" or even "Countdown," but "Love on Top" is where it all <i>clicks,</i> sublimely so. Joy for days, which, given our dire times, made this one an absolute lifesaver. Oh, and as is the case with all of her best tunes, Beyonc&#233; <i>belts</i> here. And really, what else do you need? <b>08. Nickelback, "Bottoms Up"</b>: Take away my cred card, but I am unapologetically in awe of this song. I wrote an entire column about its boozy brilliance earlier this year, but suffice to say, it is without a doubt the <a href="/news/articles/1673594/nickelback-bottoms-up-here-and-now.jhtml">greatest thing Nickelback</a> will ever do, in that they are first and foremost a party band, and this is their ultimate party jam: a song about getting supremely sh–faced, about drinking everything from Jim Beam to "straight gasoline," complete with a crushing, ALL-CAPS chorus and appropriately chugging riffs. Oh, and at one point, Chad Kroeger rhymes "bar" with "fire," mostly because he can. Hammer down, now and forever. <b>07. Bright Eyes, "The Ladder Song"</b>: For as much noise as Conor Oberst is capable of making, it's often the quieter moments where his rickety, ramshackle genius shines brightest. And "Ladder Song" &#8212; a heartbreakingly raw tribute to a friend who committed suicide &#8212; is not only his quietest, it's one of his best. Backed by little more than a piano and a handful of otherworldly room tones, Oberst plumbs the depths of despair, his voice reedy and wavering, and, when he reaches bottom, discovers there are small beauties that make life worth living. It's too bad, he ultimately laments, that his friend didn't discover them too. The year's most achingly beautiful song, by a hair-raising mile. <b>06. Drake, "Take Care"</b>: There are no short</p></p>

VOTD: Steven Tyler Mangles The National Anthem At New England Patriots Game

Google Chrome and Chromium add protection against malicious downloads

chrome malicious download Google Chrome and Chromium add protection against malicious downloads

Google Chrome already sports a number of security-minded features, from Incognito mode to a software sandbox which makes exploiting the browser a Herculean task. Now, Google has announced additional protection for Chromium and Chrome users.

Built upon the Safe Browsing API, the new feature introduces protection against malicious downloads. If a download link appears in the Safe Browsing blacklist, Chrome and Chromium will warn users against downloading — a save button is still presented, of course, in case you’re convinced a file is perfectly safe to download.

We’d like to see something a bit more eye-catching than the red warning icon — like perhaps painting the entire bar red. Many of the people a feature like this aims to protect probably won’t notice the icon or change in wording as they’ll be focused on clicking the save button.

Google is initially making download protection available to Chrome dev channel users, and you’ll likely see it in Canary and Chromium snapshot builds as well. After thorough testing, beta and stable users will be next in line.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Kesha</a> has joined forces with the Human Rights Campaign to help celebrate National Coming Out Day on Tuesday (October 11). The pop singer created a special message T-shirt, featuring a purple zebra, that <a href="/news/articles/1653432/kehas-we-r-who-we-r-video-is-hot-and-dangerous.jhtml">proclaims "We R Who We R,"</a> the title of her hit anthem about individuality. The shirts sell for $35, with all proceeds supporting the HRC's work to achieve equality for the LGBT community. According to the <a href="http://www.hrc.org/press-releases/entry/human-rights-campaign-unveils-t-shirt-collaboration-with-kesha" target="_blank">HRC website</a>, only 1,000 shirts will be produced. Others are also using the day to bring awareness to LGBT issues. Several notable celebrities will be honored by the Equality Forum, which is hosting an event and profiling notable LGBT members in pop culture. As <a href="http://miamiherald.typepad.com/gaysouthflorida/2011/10/lgbt-history-month-honors-ricky-martin-wanda-sykes-ryan-murphy-pedro-zamora-27-other-icons.html#ixzz1aTgr8yl4" target="_blank">LGBT History Month</a> rolls on throughout October, Ricky Martin, Wanda Sykes, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy and Pedro Zamora, a former "The Real World" castmember turned AIDS activist, all will be profiled by the organization. "We're the only minority worldwide that's not taught history at home, in school or religious institutions," said Malcolm Lazin, Equality Forum's founder and executive director. "Like every group that's been marginalized, it really helps to make the case why we should take real pride in ourselves and our community." Since launching the program five years ago, over 200 icons have been profiled, including Jane Lynch, Lady Gaga and Neil Patrick Harris. Lazin called LGBT month "empowering and life affirming." The message comes amid increased awareness about young people being bullied, including MTV's <a href="http://www.athinline.org">A Thin Line</a> campaign. The MTV film <a href="http://www.mtv.com/shows/disconnected/series.jhtml">"DISconnected,"</a> which premiered Monday night, focuses on issues in a world where technology controls personal lives. "I see the viciousness of people every day," said <a href="/news/articles/1672289/jersey-shore-vinny-disconnected-fight-negativity.jhtml">"Jersey Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino</a> on the "DISconnected" after show. "I kind of want to be a soldier in the field, so to speak, and try to combat the negativity with a positive message. I want to help open people's eyes up, like this movie does, to the negativity." <b>Check out the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/MTVDisCONNECTED">Facebook</a> page for <a href="http://www.mtv.com/shows/disconnected/series.jhtml">"DISconnected."</a></b></p>

Sundance 2012: The Five Most Buzzed-About Movies

From teen comedy ‘The First Time’ to horror flick ‘V/H/S,’ MTV News wraps up the most talked-about premieres.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

For those of us not lucky enough to be in Park City, Utah, right now, the biggest stories coming out of the Sundance Film Festival detail the standing ovations and the distribution deals that filmmakers sign for millions of dollars.

With so many films making their premieres at Sundance, it can be difficult to keep track of which ones you need to be paying attention to and looking out for later this year. To help you out, we’ve rounded up the five films that are coming out of Park City with the biggest buzz.

Here is our list of the five most talked-about Sundance films.

“The Surrogate”
With Oscar nominations being announced Tuesday, looking forward to the 2013 Oscar nominees may seem a little premature. That hasn’t stopped festival attendees from heralding the performances from John Hawkes, Helen Hunt and William H. Macy and predicting Academy Award nominations come next January. In the film, Hawkes plays Mark, a man in an iron lung. Mark decides that he must finally lose his virginity and contacts a sex surrogate played by Hunt. “The Surrogate” earned standing ovations and some of the earliest Oscars talk we’ve ever heard.

“Beasts of the Southern Wild”
One of the outright surprises of the festival came in the form of 6-year old Quvenzhané Wallis and her breakout role in Benh Zeitlin’s “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” The film virtually came out of nowhere and won over audiences handedly. Set in some alternate but fairly relatable reality, Wallis plays Hushpuppy, who has to navigate a brave new world after her father becomes ill. Arguably the festival’s most coveted distributor, Fox Searchlight, snapped up the distribution rights for “Beasts” after paying $6 million for “The Surrogate.”

“V/H/S”
What better praise can a horror film get than an audience member fainting during a screening? The horror anthology “V/H/S” supposedly had that exact effect on one unlucky audience member. Six of horror’s hottest up-and-coming directors contributed segments to this found-footage film, which follows a group of burglars breaking into a mysterious house to search for a specific VHS tape. The movie scared audiences throughout the festival and is considered a must-see for horror fans.

“The First Time”
Once you find out that a movie called “The First Time” follows a blossoming romance between two teenagers, you’d probably assume you know what’s going on. Most of the reviews for the film acknowledge their expectations going into the teen comedy from writer-director Jon Kasdan, but many of those reviews then describe how “The First Time” surprised them with its infectious charm. Set over the course of one weekend, “The First Time” stars Britt Robertson of “The Secret Circle” and Dylan O’Brien of MTV’s “Teen Wolf” as high school kids who meet but are tied up in other relationships.

“Celeste and Jesse Forever”
Rashida Jones has charmed audiences in movies and television for years but always remained just outside the realm of leading lady. Perhaps deciding to make the change herself, Jones co-wrote and starred in “Celeste and Jesse Forever,” an indie romance with Andy Samberg. The two play a recently divorced couple attempting to remain friends after the breakup. Critics applauded the film’s script, which strikes a balance between comedy and poignant romantic drama.

Which of these five films are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments!

Demi Moore could get seriously lucky just before the release of the 911 call that was made before she was taken to the hospital earlier this week. First of all, I want to clear that I am not making light of her ended up in the hospital. I am also not making fun of her if she has a real substance abuse problem. With that said, what the heck is going on? Usually the dirty and even disturbing details are aired out when celebrities find themselves in these kind of situations. Instead, word has it that the tape of the 911 call will be edited so that it doesn?t include specific references to the drugs that were allegedly involved or even the friends that were involved. So what exactly will be on the tape now anyway? I think it might go something like this ?okay, so we have a woman here who has collapsed. Help, please.? How silly is that? In case you didn?t know, sources have claimed that she was doing nitrous oxide right before she had a near seizure. That is just plain embarrassing. Those aren?t even really illegal anyway, but there is some kind of loophole that [...]

‘Muppets’ Music Man Calls Oscar Nod ‘A Big Surprise’

Bret McKenzie’s ‘Man or Muppet’ is up against ‘Real in Rio’ for Best Original Song.

There are always plenty of shocks, snubs and surprises when it comes to the unveiling of Oscar nominees each year. Tuesday’s (January 24) announcement was met with all of the above, but overall there were more pleasant surprises than not.

One of our favorite nominees is “Flight of the Conchords” actor-turned-“Muppets” music supervisor Bret McKenzie, who scored a Best Original Song nod for his “Man or Muppet.”

MTV News was lucky enough to get a few minutes on the phone with the still-in-shock McKenzie, who called in from his home in New Zealand.

“We’re celebrating with breakfast,” McKenzie said. “I woke up to the phone ringing nonstop, so then I picked up my phone and saw the news. I was very excited. I don’t sound it, but I am very excited. It’s a great day.”

The multitalented New Zealander revealed that while “Man or Muppet” is his favorite song in “The Muppets” and that he is very proud of the earnest ballad, he never expected it to be recognized for anything.

“I really wanted it to be hilarious and beautiful, and I feel like we got that combination. It’s sincere but ridiculous,” he said. “The idea of children singing the song at school cracks me up.”

McKenzie said that the nomination surprised almost the entire “Muppets” team, except perhaps writer/star Jason Segel, who made an outlandish prediction during production about the earnest tune’s award potential.

“The night we recorded ‘Man or Muppet,’ we had a few drinks and Jason Segel was predicting we’d get together at the Oscars, but he was joking,” McKenzie recalled. “[Maybe] that guy can see the future.”

Once the actor/musician gets over the shock of his nomination, he’ll have to start preparations for how the song will be performed during the 84th annual awards ceremony.

“I was thinking we’ll definitely need a man and a Muppet,” McKenzie joked. “Yeah, that’s what we need.”

When asked about his chances, McKenzie marveled at the fact that there are only two nominees, “Man or Muppet” and “Real in Rio” from “Rio.”

“I was amazed there were only two nominees; I was surprised. It seems unusual, but it’s great because the odds are 50-50,” he said. “The only thing I guess would be better if there was only one nomination.”

What song should win the Oscar for Best Original Song? Sound off in the comments section!

One Good Earbud Might Be All You Need

Older readers may remember the precursor to modern earbuds. It was a single earbud that came in one color — medical-aid off-white — and had a stiff, weak cable ending in the familiar 3.5m jack. It was designed for use with battery-operated transistor radios, and was most often used by football-crazy men to listen furtively [...]

Android app developer is looking for answers, take a minute and help

android market Android app developer is looking for answers, take a minute and help

Android application developers work hard and don't get nearly enough appreciation.  As you see mentioned just about everywhere, it's the application support that makes or breaks a mobile platform, so their job is pretty important.  Luckily, we're in good shape with Android, a look at the huge number of apps in just the official Android Market will confirm.  But there's more than sheer numbers.  We all want applications and games that offer just the right features, at the right level of performance, and at the right price.  Here's a chance for you to help.

Android application developer go6game has a short survey in the Android Central forums, and he'd like a little feedback.  The questions are simple enough to answer, but I can see how the data he collects from this would help create games and apps that are not only more popular (Android app developers deserve to make a good living people), but work better and offer the features we want.  The questions he's asking are easy enough, consisting of things like how you discover and recommend apps to others.  Downloading apps from the Market is something every one of us does daily.  I think it's a great idea, and I know plenty of us will take the time to help out.

Apps don't write themselves, and quality apps certainly take a lot of thought and hard work to bring to market.  When an application developer takes the time to ask us just what we're looking for, the least we can do is tell him.  Hit the link below and do your part — better apps and games will be the result, and who doesn't want that?

A bit of market research; Android Central forums

letsnote Panasonic intros a pair of 12.1 inch Lets Note Laptops
Panasonic Japan’s quirky range of chunky Let’s Note laptops has swelled by a factor of two, thanks to a pair of 12.1-inch units ousted today. The stock models come with a 1280 x 800 display (extra cash will get you a 16:9 1600 x 900 screen with a built-in 720p webcam). By default, you’ll get an Intel Core i5 2450M chip, USB 3.0, WiFi (and WiMax!), Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, HDMI-out and on the SX edition, an optical drive. Build-to-order options include swapping in an SSD and a battery pack that promises an unbelievable (i.e. we don’t) twelve seventeen hours of life on the road. There’s no mention of when they’ll be available beyond “Spring,” nor any indication of the cost, so instead let’s think about that crazy circular track-pad, eh?

BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 screenshots leak

bbm 6 BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 screenshots leak
A leaked early version of RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry Messenger 6 has been making the rounds since late February, but images of the new app are just now beginning to appear. Over at CrackBerry, the crew has shared a handful of images of BBM 6 in action. Unfortunately, you won’t get a glimpse at a chat or file transfer — only the profile screens (after the break) and what you see above. All that’s really revealed so far is the option to set custom contact and chat colors and BlackBerry OS 6.1-style icons.

CrackBerry also warns against installing the leaked BBM 6 app. There’s no guarantee this app hasn’t been tampered with, and BlackBerry devices are becoming a more common target for cybercriminals.

Jetbus is a retro-tastic physics game, with a bus

jetbus 8581 Jetbus is a retro tastic physics game, with a bus

Once upon a time, there used to be a DOS game with a caveman and a human powered helicopter. The caveman would shuttle around the screen, madly trying to get customers to where they wanted to go.

Jetbus is not that game, but it’s obviously inspired by it. You’re driving a yellow school bus which has jets. I guess the jet engine takes quite a bit of space inside the bus, because you can only pick up one person at a time.

There are several doors on the screen, each with its own number. As you pick up a person, the status bar at the bottom of the screen shows you which number door you have to take them to.

You must fly your bus carefully, because if it gets bumped around too much, you lose. You earn money on each level, and can visit the garage to buy better jets and damping, power-ups, or even a whole new vehicle.

So while this game isn’t made as well as the original that inspired it, it does provide a few minutes of fun. And now, which one of you guys remembers the original and feels like pointing to it in the comments?

Madonna Praises Lady Gaga’s ‘Rawness’

Queen of Pop opens up about the Mother Monster on ‘The Graham Norton Show.’

<P>Here in the States, <a href="/news/articles/1677260/madonna-lady-gaga-born-this-way.jhtml">Madonna sat down with ABC News</a> and had some <i>interesting</i> comments about Lady Gaga. In another <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ukTFzM6Wfdg" target="_blank">interview</a>, on Friday's (January 13) <a href="http://www.bbcamerica.com/the-graham-norton-show/" target="_blank">"The Graham Norton Show,"</a> the singer seemed to take the high road and likened her early days of hustling in New York City to <a href="/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Gaga</a>'s beginnings. "When I first saw her, I saw her performing at a very small club in Manhattan a couple of years ago, maybe it was like three years ago," she said. "I was actually really impressed by her. I thought she was really cool and she did remind me of me back in the day. I liked her rawness and there was something fresh about there and ballsy, and when she spoke to the audience, she sounded like she had a similar sense of humor to me, quite ironic, and I liked her. So I do think she is very talented." That was really the end of the subject during their chat, other than when Madonna teased the British talk-show host about naming his dog after her. However, when he said his other dog was named Bailey, she quipped, "Not Gaga?" Some of that sentiment was mirrored in Madge's ABC interview, the rest of which airs on Friday's night's <i>20/20</i>. While she did call Gaga's "Born This Way" song "reductive" when asked about comparisons to her own "Express Yourself," she went on to say that she sees a lot of her own work in Gaga's. "I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it's amusing and flattering and well-done," she said, later adding that she thinks Gaga is "a very talented artist" and that she's making a "statement about taking something that was in the zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it." Madonna is currently making the rounds promoting her next album, <a href="/news/articles/1677103/madonna-album-mdna.jhtml"><i>M.D.N.A.,</i></a> as well as <a href="/news/articles/1674125/madonna-we-film-delayed.jhtml">her film "W.E."</a> <i>What do you think of Madonna's Gaga thoughts? Let us know in the comments!</i></p>

<P>Could it be that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> is ready to walk down the aisle again? </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720382" width="240" height="211"></div><p> After a report surfaced on <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2011/12/16/britney-spears-engaged/" target="_blank">TMZ</a> that the singer's longtime beau and <a href="/news/articles/1672795/britney-spears-criminal-video-director.jhtml">"Criminal" co-star</a> Jason Trawick planned to pop the question Friday night (December 16) in Las Vegas, the singer took to Twitter early Friday and had this mysterious message for her fans. "OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I've been waiting for," she <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/britneyspears" target="_blank">wrote</a>. "Can't wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo" A rep for the singer hadn't responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time, but sources confirmed the news to <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20550229,00.html" target="_blank"><i>People</i></a> magazine. TMZ further reports that Jason asked Britney's dad, Jamie, for his daughter's hand before he popped the question. According to reports, Britney already knew about the engagement and the couple will sign a prenuptial agreement. As for her conservatorship, her conservators have signed off on the couple's plans to marry; a judge will most likely give them the go-ahead to tie the knot. A source tells <a href="http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/britney-spears-engaged-to-jason-trawick-20111612#ixzz1giRxDKhY" target="_blank">Usmagazine.com</a> that Trawick asked his lady love to marry him on Thursday night while the two were at a romantic dinner celebrating his 40th birthday. The couple will celebrate the engagement at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on Friday. "This is something they've both wanted for a long time," the source told the site. "It's a way to cement their family. They're both extremely happy and can't wait to become man and wife." The Neil Lane ring is a four-carat, round-cut diamond with micro pave diamonds around the band, according to <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/get_details_on_britney_spears/281287" target="_blank">E!</a> News. "It's classic, simple and beautiful," a rep for the jewelry company told the site. The rep added that Trawick worked with the designer to design a "dream ring" for his future wife. While there's no confirmation from Spears' camp just yet about the engagement, Spears did reveal something on Twitter: what she bought Jason for his birthday. "Hbday Jason! He looked so cool in the video, that I had to get him a new motorcycle," she wrote. Paramount Begins Selling UltraViolet Movies DirectlyJust over a week ago I spoke with the head of DECE and UltraViolet about the service, its origins, and where it’s going. The conclusion seemed to be that there was great potential in the service as a value-add, if it’s handled correctly, but that much depends on the content producers. Paramount is the first studio to start offering UV movies on their own, via a dedicated site – Paramount Movies.

UK Greenlights first marine-energy park in the heart of Brunel-country

gregbarker UK Greenlights first marine energy park in the heart of Brunel country
The West Country is home to some of the finest engineering anywhere in the UK, thanks to the region’s historical patronage of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. That reputation will continue thanks to the Department of Energy and Climate Change naming it as the home of the nation’s first marine energy park. Running from Bristol, past Cornwall and out to the Isles of Scilly, the tidal-power plant is expected to generate 27 Gigawatts of power, the equivalent of eight coal-fired power stations. Of course, harnessing the energy of the seas isn’t something we’ll be seeing soon as the project’s earmarked to be ready for 2050, around the same time we’re likely to get LTE.

Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman, More React To Oscar Nominations

Oldman calls Best Actor nod ‘extremely humbling, gratifying and delightful.’

Once again, the announcement of the Academy Awards nominations has made for a flurry of exciting headlines and news stories and lots of bets won and lost in Vegas.

In addition to the early-morning reveal of the full list of Oscar-nominated individuals and films, the most exciting aspect of Oscar nomination day is the universal delight and happiness expressed by the lucky folks in question.

Celebrated thespian and first-time nominee Gary Oldman was humbled by his Best Actor nomination for “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.”

“This afternoon in Berlin I have learned that I was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Actor,” he said in a statement. “You may have heard this before, but it has never been truer than it is for me today, it is extremely humbling, gratifying and delightful to have your work recognized by the Academy, and to join the celebrated ranks of previous nominees and colleagues. Amazing.”

Another first-time nominee in the Best Actor category is Demián Bichir, star of the lesser-known but well-received “A Better Life,” who admitted to being completely overwhelmed at having his name read along with Oldman’s and the other “incredible” Best Actor nominees.

“This could have never happened if Chris Weitz had not been the head of this film,” Bichir said in a statement. “He is my brother and I thank him deeply. Hopefully more and more people will jump into iTunes and Netflix to see our film. That will be the biggest reward we could get. I dedicate this nomination to those eleven million human beings who make our lives easier and better in the U.S.”

Five-time nominee Kenneth Branagh was “absolutely thrilled” to learn of his first-ever Best Supporting Actor nod for “My Week With Marilyn.”

“It was a rare honour to play Sir Laurence Olivier,” Branagh said in a statement. “To be recognised by the Academy for doing so is overwhelming. I’m absolutely thrilled.”

Branagh’s fellow Best Supporting Actor nominee Christopher Plummer was also thrilled with the news.

“It’s a shot in the arm for a young kid of 82 to receive an Academy Award nomination this morning,” Plummer said in a statement. “My gratitude to writer/director Michael Mills, the Academy and to everyone involved with ‘Beginners.’ ”

Best Director nominee Michel Hazanavicius and Best Supporting Actress nominee Bérénice Bejo were expectedly over the moon about their film “The Artist” receiving 10 nominations overall.

“I am so honored for this nomination,” Hazanavicius said in a statement. “Filming ‘The Artist’ in Los Angeles was a dream come true, and to receive this recognition today is far beyond what I ever imagined. I couldn’t have done this film without the incredible cast of actors and outstanding crew whose heart and souls were poured into this project.”

“I’m overjoyed and filled with happiness,” Bejo said. “I can’t believe that a year ago I was learning how to tap dance and today I am nominated for an Academy Award. It was a thrill to work on a project as ambitious as ‘The Artist’ and I am happy to share this moment with our visionary director, Michel Hazanavicius.”

And last but certainly not least is a reaction from Hollywood’s most awarded and nominated individual, Meryl Streep.

“I am honored to be in company with such beautiful artists,” the 17-time Oscar nominee said in a statement. “And touched deeply by my fellow actors for their generosity in giving me this acknowledgment.”
